What should I expect from my hearing aids?

You have new hearing aids, not new ears!

Your new hearing aids are advanced and sophisticated. However, they are still not as sophisticated as the human hearing system.

Thus, at first, you may hear a lot of environmental sounds that you do not want to hear and miss important parts of the speech that you are trying to understand. This is because your brain has already forgotten how to ignore unwanted sounds due to your hearing loss. Please, stay cool and do not become frustrated!

The good news is that you will feel much better with time. Your brain will learn again how to stay focused on what interests you while ignoring distracting sounds or noises. In order to achieve that as soon as possible, we recommend you use your hearing aids as much as you can during the daytime.

However, if you are a "first-time user" we recommend using your hearing aids gradually over the first two weeks. You can start at one hour on the first day and add an extra hour each subsequent day until you reach 10-12 hours of use a day.
