What if my hearing loss gets worse?

For most people, hearing loss gets progressively worse over time. This deterioration can happen very slowly, over many years, or relatively quickly, even within weeks or months.

If you believe that your hearing has deteriorated further, repeat the hearing test in the phone app and adjust the volume of your hearing aids according to the new hearing test results. You may need to change the dome at the end of the thin tube to a more closed one to prevent feedback (whistling) from your hearing aids.

If your hearing suddenly worsens (within days or even hours), you should see your primary care provider (PCP) or otolaryngologist as soon as possible. If you cannot see your PCP or otolaryngologist on the same day you feel the sudden deterioration, we recommend that you visit the emergency room.

In any case, you are always welcome to consult one of our hearing care professionals if necessary.
